➦ Too much sleep
Sleeping too much during the day and getting nothing done.
➦ Too much focus on food.
Ramadan is a month when we refrain from eating to focus on our spirituality. Unfortunately many Muslims see the month of Ramadhan as a feasting month. This is the reason why many of us spend lot of money on iftars or waste our time cooking meals.
➦ Ramadhan is not limited to stopping from eating.
Many Muslims think that if they just stop eating and drinking they succeeded in fasting. This is not true. In fact, a Muslim should fast with his/her eyes/ears/mouth and feet. This means that one should not look at forbidden things, listening to bad words or going to forbidden places.
➦ Fasting with the wrong intention.
Many of us fast with the intention of losing weight, this is not correct.
➦ Sexual intercourse.
Many people think that it is not permissible for a husband and her wife to have sexual intercourse at night. This is wrong.
➦ Not fasting because of ghusl.
If you wake up the next morning and forgot to do ghusl at night, you can still fast. For example, if a sister sleep at night while still having her menstruations, when she wakes up the next morning seeing it has stopped, she can do her ghusl and fast.
➦ Ignoring suhoor time.
Many Muslims ignore suhoor time or they take their suhoor many hours before Fajr prayer.
The Prophet (SAW) said: “Eat suhoor for in suhoor there is blessing.”(Bukhari, Muslim). And he (SAW) said: “The thing that differentiates between our fasting and the fasting of the People of the Book is eating suhoor.” (Muslim)
➦ Not making du’as while breaking the fast.
Many Muslims ignore the fact of making du’as before while breaking their fast. It is one of the moment when one’s invocations are accepted, so make the most of it.
➦ Eid shopping
During the last days of Ramadhan, many Muslims are busy for Eid shopping, we should focus on doing acts of ibadats too.
➦ Traveling during Ramadhan
Many people believe it is not good to travel during the month of Ramadhan. This is false, in case you have to break your fast, you can make it up after Eid.
➦ Using miswak and toothpaste
Many Muslims believe you cannot use miswak while fasting. This is wrong because the Prophet ( Peace be upon him) used miswak while fasting. Some scholars even say it is permisible to use toothpaste as long as you do not swallow it.
